You are fabulous card

Monday, October 28, 2013

As I have mentioned in previous posts that I have finally been making more cards after quite a few months of not feeling well in my pregnancy, however, this card is one that had sat on my desk half finished for a number of months and finally managed to finish.

The card started out with using the You are stamps and the honeycomb die that I had bought from Clearly Besotted back in the summer and then sat on my desk for a few months as I didn't really do any card making.
I knew that it needed something in the background to finish off the card but wasn't sure what to add and then after seeing other crafters using sequins more and more, I decided to add some to this card. I think it helps add a little depth to this card but isn't too busy.

Stamps - Clearly Besotted You are | Paper - Crate Paper Story Teller | Hexagon - Clearly Besotted Honeycomb die | 2" scallop oval punch | Sequins - Transparent - Hobbycraft.

Hope you had a lovely weekend. See you soon.

Card Project Form

Thursday, October 24, 2013

When it comes to writing a blog post that is about a card I have made, I find it difficult to remember what the supplies were that I needed to include in the post.

I have written the supplies down on bits of paper and on post it notes but quite often don't write down what card they are for.

So I decided to make my own printable card project forms that I could just print off and store some ready for use. Using these forms helps to remind me to write the name down or create one for the card.

I included just a few titles to allow me to keep track of the supplies. I write down the name of the card, the titles of the photos used and then can write down the supplies.

When I have finished with the card and it is inside the clear envelope, I just simply use a piece of washi tape on top of the card project form and stick it to the front of the clear envelope. That way I know all the details of the card ready for creating a blog post and also I know which cards need to be posted on the blog at a glance.

Once the card is posted on the blog I take the form off the card and store them elsewhere in case I need to look at them in the future.

Here is the printable if you are interested in printing some off for yourself.

Let me know what you think of these. I have found them very useful and hope you do too.

woyww 229 - what's on my desk

On my desk today are supplies that I thought I would try and make some baby cards as I am trying to make a variety of cards that I can have in my card stash for different occasions.

I thought I would try and use some Grace Taylor die cuts for the baby images on the cards as I have some girl die cuts and boy die cuts. I recently bought these from Hobbycraft and they are so cute.

Also on my desk is a box of Christmas supplies that I trying to find inspiration from to make Christmas cards.

Right I'm off to make some cards and hope you enjoy visiting the other work desks.

See you soon.

Clearly Besotted Challenge #5

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

I quite often use card sketches to help me make a card but have never used a colour challenge, so this week I decided to use the colour inspiration from Clearly Besotted.

Part of the challenge you have to use at least one of their products. I went with the Butterfly wishes additions and stamped them onto kraft card.

I decided to use the embossing folder, Sizzix leaves 3, that I won recently as I thought it went well with the theme and adds some texture to the background.

When it came to the colours, I found it slightly difficult as most of my patterned paper is very bright and colourful but managed to find some in the Crate Paper Story Teller paper pad.

Stamps - Clearly Besotted Butterfly wishes additions and Amy R It's your birthday | Paper - Crate Paper Story Teller | Border punch - Martha Stewart doily lace | Clearly Besotted Butterfly wishes dies | Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterfly punch | Spellbinders Nestabilities  label one | Wooden stars - Ebay | Embossing folder - Sizzix leaves 3 | Sequins - Hobbycraft | Stickles star dust.

This is the colour palette.

I had great fun with card and hope to do more of these challenges in the future.

Hip hip hooray card

So this week I am 28 weeks pregnant and have to have a few injections and tests.
I have had a flu jab and will have to have the whooping cough injection next week and I also have had the glucose intolerance test to check whether this baby will be big like my last one! This test meant having a blood test, sitting still in the doctors for two hours and then having another blood test. It was went quite fast so that was OK.

I only have about 12 weeks to go now so not long left. Just need to get my head in gear with sorting the things for the baby and trying to get ahead for Christmas!

Today's card is for one for a boy. It is one of a few cards that I have made over the last few months, when I have felt up to making a card, that I haven't posted on here yet.

It is quite simple as it doesn't have too much embellishment but has colour and pattern going on instead.

I'm not very good at colouring in the images so just kept it light.

Paper - Basic grey Max and Whiskers | Card - American Craft | Stamp - Hero Arts Playful Animals | Embossing Folder - Triboss Chequered | Label - Spellbinders Nestabilities Label one | Button - Sew Sweet | Border Punch - Fiskars Upper Crest.

Hope you had a good weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead.
See you soon.

Mojo Monday Sketch 315

Friday, October 18, 2013

It's been a while since I have done a card using a sketch challenge, So decided to try one this week.
This card is made using the Mojo Monday Sketch 315

I decided to use one of the jars from the papers from Dear Lizzy Neopolitan and added some glossy accents and stickles glitter to the little hearts in the jar.

Although I didn't use any of the images from the Clearly Besotted Butterfly Wishes Additions, I chose to use one of the small sentiments to fit on the little tag.

Also I had to use my favourite little wooden hearts.

Paper = American Crafts - Dear Lizzy Neopolitan and My Girl | Stamp = Clearly Besotted - Butterfly Wishes Additions | Ribbon = American Crafts | Tag = Staples | Wooden Hearts = Ebay | Twine = The Ribbon Girl | Glossy Accents | Stickles Star dust.

Here is the sketch:

Hope you have a great weekend.

woyww 228 - what's on my desk

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

On my desk this week are the supplies that I have been using to make a card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I love using these sketches for inspiration.

I tend to leave all my supplies out until the card is finished so that I can write down what supplies I have used, for when I put the card on the blog, if I don't I would never remember. Not tidying as I go tends to drive me crazy as I am the type of person who tends to keep a clean desk as my desk isn't very big.

Also on my desk are some Sizzix items that I won from Paula Pascuals blog recently and want to start using them for Christmas cards and projects.

Right I'm off to sort out a sentiment for the card.

It's been a long time since I last showed you what's on my desk and as I have recently been cleaning and organising it a bit, so I thought that I would show you it again.

On my desk are some paper pads I picked up from Homesense that I thought might give me some inspiration. There are some fabrics that I won in a giveaway from Paper and Strings and a card that I has been sitting on my desk for about 3 months unfinished as I haven't been feeling like making cards but finally finished it with some sequins.

Also my 5 year old loves when I stamp her some images on paper so that she can colour them in, that's what I am off to do now.
