Yesterday I had to have more root canal treatment on one of my teeth. I started the treatment 2 weeks ago but the nerve was double the length the dentist thought so it is going to take much longer to sort out.

So for this reason, I haven't been posting much and finding it little hard to concentrate on crafting as the pain can be quite bad at times. Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

Anyway this is what my desk looks like at the moment as I have said, it is a bit hard to concentrate on making things but managed to put together the red paper star that I bought from Wilkinsons, finish my Christmas cards and started to think of some Christmas cards for Hollies teachers.

I also bought some of the 14p wrapping paper from Tesco to make some little pretend Christmas presents to put under my little tree but Hollie can't understand why I am making pretend presents as she says she wants real ones! I have tried to explain they're not for her though.

I have enjoyed making the paper stars that are hanging at the top of the picture. They were from a template on this blog. It is in dutch so will need translating.

Hope to be able to show some more of the things I have been making soon.

Hope you are having a good week.

On my desk this week is the supplies that I have been using to make some decorations for the Christmas tree that is in my craft space.

I love the combination of the red and kraft colours, so decided to use these colours on my tree as I have quite a bit of felt in these colours and wanted to make some decorations using felt.

I also have some Christmas paper pads as I want to make some decorations out of paper. Have a few ideas so will see if any of them turn out ok.

These are the decorations I have made so far. I have red hearts and kraft coloured stockings.

I still want to make a few more types of decorations for the tree and when I have finished, I will show you what I have made.

Hope you are having a good week so far. See you soon.

Doily effect card

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

I've been so busy making Christmas presents and cards that I kind of forgot about posting anything on the blog.

I thought that I should show you some more of the cards I have made as the pictures are sitting ready to posted.

This is a birthday card that I made a while back and love the pretty papers in the Crate Papers Restoration pad. I simply cut out the doily from one of the papers and added a gem brad and stuck it to a lacey circle.

The card quite simple but with the pattern of the doily, it brings the card together nicely.

After I saw all those lovely desk last week on What's on your workdesk wendesday and how people were busy making there Christmas cards, I realised I needed to get into gear and make my Christmas cards.

I started making the cards on Monday but only just getting to finish them today as yesterday afternoon I had to have emergency root canal treatment after having a filling in the morning and then when the aesthetic had worn off I was in agony with the nerve. Feeling a lot better today so my mission is to finish these cards and some birthday cards.

I recently bought the Clearly besotted  Signature Stamps which I love all the stamps, so have been using these along with the Dovecraft Vintage Christmas papers to make some Christmas cards.

Hope you are all having a good week so far. See you soon.

Skipping Stones Design sketch 153

Friday, November 09, 2012

On wednesday I showed you my desk and how I was going to make some cards, well I so far have made one card and decided to use the Skipping Stones Design sketch 153.

I went with the Dovecraft Tea Party papers and cut the scallop circle cupcake out of one of the papers.

I decided not to put anything on the large circle as it is very patterned and just added some glitter to make it sparkle.

I also added some glitter to the cupcake and the flower and some glossy accents to the heart on the cupcake to make it shiny.

Love the font of the sentiment from Skipping Stones Design and they stamp so nicely.

This is the sketch.
The elements are at the bottom rather than on the circle but I tend to alter the sketches slightly anyway.

Have a lovely weekend.

I been doing lots of crafts for Halloween and painting and updating things in my craft room that I realised that I hadn't made a card in a while, so today I decided that I would try and make a few.

So on my desk is some of things I thought that I might use. I love to see all the different colours so having these things out inspires me and reminds me to use these things.

Love having all the buttons, brads and pins separated by colour as it's so much easier to to find and grab.

I also stamp the back of my stamps with a personalised stamp I got from Vistaprint which has my name, blog name and blog address. Great stamp to have.

Right, better get back to sorting out some card sketches and making these cards.

See you soon.

Updated wooden drawers

Monday, November 05, 2012

I have been loving the Martha Stewart home office range that's in Staples now and especially as they have had up to 40% off the range and could quite easily buy so much of it.

The one thing I did buy was the small bookplates

I wanted to jazz up some plain wooden drawers I had.

This is what the drawers look like when I bought it from Ikea a few years ago and were just bare wood.

I forgot to take a picture of the drawers when they were plain yellow as I was so eager to label them, but you can see them in the picture below from my craft room post.

So I used the Martha Stewart small book plates on the front of the drawers and that instantly made the drawers look better.

I didn't want to just add some plain white labels, so covered the white labels with some washi tape in the center and then added a label I made using my label maker and the clear tape.

This is what the drawers looked like before adding the clear labels on them. It adds just enough colour to the drawers.

I thought I would show you what is in the drawers.

The first one has a lot of post it notes.

The next drawer has folder tabs, sticky labels and book plates.

Then there is a drawer with office stationery.

This drawer has a lot of Ikea hooks, some magazine file plates, screen cloth and a magnetic rack thingamabob!

There is a drawer full of pens and pencils.

and the bottom drawer has more office stationery.

So this is what the drawers look like all spruced up and labelled. I think they look much better, less plain and more organised.

Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the fireworks if you were in the UK.

See you soon.
