Mojo Monday Sketch 260 - Life is too short

Friday, September 28, 2012

From Monday, Hollie will be going to school all day rather than just the afternoons and so I am really hoping I can do some more crafting as it really helps me relax and take my mind off things. I haven't made many cards recently and want to make more gifts for Christmas.

I wanted to show the card that I made for my Brother in laws birthday today.

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 260 and decided to use one of the American Crafts Play papers.

I didn't use too much embellishment as the card was for a man, so kept it pretty much to the sketch.

Have a good weekend.

Happy Anniversary card - Birdsong

Monday, September 24, 2012

My parents wedding anniversary was way back in May but somehow managed to forget to post the card, that I had made, on the blog.

So here it is,
I decided to use some paper from the Papermania Birdsong collection. Usually I buy 6x6 paper pads but for some reason, I bought the 12x12 pack from this collection. This is usually fine but the paper in this pack was designed more for scrapbooking than for card making and so made it a little harder to chose a design. The pack has some lovely patterns though.

I chose to keep the card to one layer of patterned paper as this paper was so full with the bird, the leaves and the colour. Just adding some glittered butterflies, some ribbon and a small flower, gave the card some dimension but didn't make the card too overpowering.

Paper - Papermania Birdsong | Stamp - Hero Arts All Occasion | Ribbon - Hobbycraft | Butterfly - Martha Stewart punch | Flower - the Ribbon Girl | Glitter - Stickles.

Hope you are all having a good start to the week. It's getting cold and rainy here in the UK, so time to get out the winter clothes I think.  See you soon.

Mojo Monday Sketch 258.

Hollie finally went back to school on Wednesday after 7 1/2 weeks off. At the moment she only goes in the afternoon but from October, she will go all day. So glad for a bit more freedom and quiet!

Today's card is made using the Mojo Monday sketch 258. I love using embossing folders on the backgrounds of cards as they jazz the card up and really love this embossing folder. I used stickles glitter on the butterflies and Glossy Accents on the bunting to add more dimension.

Paper - Basic Grey Origins and Dovecraft | Stamp - Amy R  Best Birthday Wishes and Hobbycraft Bunting stamps  | Embossing folder -  Cart Us Trendy circles | Flower - The Ribbon Reel | Butterflies - Martha Stewart punch | Buttons - Papermania | Twine - The Ribbon Girl | Spellbinders Nestabilities label one and classic circles | Sekura white gelly roll pen | Stickles crystal glitter | Glossy Accents.

I recently came across some new stamps in Hobbycraft recently and they are all £1 each. I picked up 3 to try and see how well they work and they worked fine.  I used the bunting stamp on the card above. These are the ones I bought.
