Card Friday 11.5.18 - Birthday Wishes Card
Friday, May 11, 2018
Paper - Me and My Big Ideas | Accent sticker - Pebbles | Stamp - Docrafts | Butterfly - My Mind's Eye | Pearl flower charms - Docrafts | Gems - Docrafts.
I made this card for our niece's birthday and as I'm still trying to find my feet with crafting again, I decided to keep it simple and not get overwhelmed with creating it.
Using a patterned paper that was quite busy helped to bring the card together straight away and using a striped chipboard butterfly that added some colour.
I wanted to add some dimension to the card so added 3 flower embellishments.
I used a accent sticker for the sentiment for the outside of the card and for the inside I punched a circle and stamped a greeting on it.
While going through the patterned paper pads that I have, I found some that I really would love to make some cards with so hopefully it will spur me on to make more cards soon.
Simple Anniversary Card
Saturday, April 14, 2018
This week was mine and my husbands 11th wedding anniversary and I really wanted to make a card for him. I haven't made a card in a while and it really frustrates me when I buy a card knowing i have the supplies to make one.
I decided to make a simple card and just used a simple embellishment and stamps. There is a lot of pattern in the paper and the embellishment is quite bold and large so I felt it didn't need anything else.
Supplies: Kraft card base - Hobbycraft | Rounded and square rectangle dies - The Works | Patterned paper - We R Memory Keepers | Stamps - Clearly Besotted | Embellishments - Grace Taylor.
CARD FRIDAY 1.12.2017
Friday, December 01, 2017
It was mine and my husbands 10th wedding anniversary earlier in the year and I wanted to make a card.
I had recently bought some new dies from The Works and thought I would use some of them on this card.
I decided to keep the card pretty simple but I wanted to use some red and some hearts.
I used some of the stitched dies from The Works as the background focus, for the sentiment and for the hearts.
I chose some wooden hearts and stars as the embellishments and add some dimension.
The sentiment was put together using a selection of different stamps but think it worked.
I really love the stitched dies you can get now and love that they add more character and focus to the card.
Card Friday 24.11.2017

I haven't made that many cards recently but one I did make was a 1st anniversary card.
I love using the Kraft card for cards and this one was 5 x 7 inches.
I decided to just use a smaller strip of patterned paper and also used a flower die cut embellishment for the centre with some gems to add dimension.
Between the paper and the embellishment, I added a white heart to help the flower stand out.
For the sentiment, I created it by using different stamps together so I could add the 1st as well. I stamped them on a stitched rectangle die cut as the stitching adds more pattern.
As the main focus was down the centre of the card, I added some white and clear sequins to add more texture.
The card is quite a simple design but I don't think it needed anything more on it as sometimes it is easy to make it too complicated.
Sending thank you cards
Thursday, January 21, 2016
These days with all the types of social media, it's so easy to just send a quick thank you to someone that sent you a present, helped you out etc.
As much as I might do this now and again, I really like to send out thank you cards to people whether they are 20 or 80. To me as a crafter, I think that it shows that person that you were grateful and are thinking of them, which these days it's so easy to forget to thank people.
With the thank you cards I have made recently for people that bought the girls Christmas presents, I did some batch card making and made 9 cards all of the same theme but with different patterned papers.
I really like making cards, if you hadn't noticed from the past the past blog posts, and it's so easy to send cards whether you make them or buy them, I think it's important to show others that you are grateful.
Do you agree or do you think that social media has taken over and cards are redundant? I would love to know what you think.
Christmas Cards 2015.
Thursday, December 24, 2015
I got a bit stuck with the inspiration for this year Christmas cards until I came across an idea of a card in a box. These cards are designed to be flat enough to fit in an envelope but when opened they stand as a box.
I made these cards with different embellishments from Hobbycraft and used some Christmas patterned paper on the sides. I added some embellishments to the sides of one of the boxes but felt the others looked better plain.
On the back I added a plain white piece of card so that I could write a message to the recipient.
I didn't make very many of these cards and decided to make some standard Christmas cards as well.
For the second set of Christmas cards, I used some wooden Christmas embellishments that I found in Homesense.
Some of these embellishments were quite large and worked well on their own on the front of the cards while others were smaller so I added some wooden stars and a button to fill the space.
I layered up some white card and some Christmas patterned paper for the background of the card and added a red stitched rounded rectangle on top for the embellishments to go on.
The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Most Wonderful stamp set and is stamped on a white stitched rectangle. I really love the red against the kraft patterned paper.
I really enjoyed making the Christmas cards this year and as I did it like a little assembly line, with making one part of all the cards at a time, it was quite quick to complete.
Hope you have a lovely Christmas and I will see you soon.
