Green Butterfly Card.
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Well this week we were supposed to be at Pontins but we only lasted one night but thats a whole other story.
So i thought I would show you the card I made recently.
I used the daisy Cuttlebug embossing folder on the card. I like using the embossing folders on cards that are just plain background, it adds a bit of dimension to them.
The paper is from My Minds Eye - Bloom and Grow and the brown dotted paper is from Making Memories - Just Chillin' Boy ranges. The stamp is from Clare Curd at Papermania, I just inked the edge of most of the pieces and used the threading water punch on the brown dotted paper.
So now I'm back at home instead of being on holiday, I might get some more crafting in.
'till next time.

Noticeboard Frame.
Sunday, September 19, 2010
Today I wanted to show you the noticeboard that I have made.
This started out as a Ribba frame from ikea. I then took an old noticeboard and cut the cork to fit the frame.
I took out the glass, left the insert in the front and place the cork behind it. Then I just fitted the backboard back on and voila, a jazzed up noticeboard.
I could have just left the frame as it is but no, I had to jazz it up even more.
So out came the patterned paper, butterfly punches and template, ink and pearls and I came up with 3 different size butterflies.
The little butterfly is from the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterfly punch.
The medium sized butterfly is from the Martha Stewart Classic Butterfly punch.
The large butterfly is from Jenni Bowlin butterfly template.
The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket Delovely.
I just simply inked the edges of all the butteflies and added the pearls to the large butterflies.
I didn't want to stick the butterflies to the frame permanently so I just stuck them down with white tack as it won't leave a mark but holds the butterflies fine to the frame.
Now i just need to find where I put my wooden drawing pins for the board and we're away.
This is an easy way to create a noticeboard that's something more special than a plain cork noticeboard.
Well, thanks for looking and have a great day.
Acrylic Block Tip.
Friday, September 17, 2010
I don't know whether this is common knowledge but I thought I would put it on here anyway.
My tip for cleaning acrylic blocks that have ink that won't come off it like staz on is to wipe the block with a hand sanitizer. I've tried this with staz on ink and the ink thats still on the block just wipes straight off.
Thanks for looking.
Polka Dot & Butterfly Anniversary Card.
Friday, September 10, 2010
This is a card that I started a few months ago and I got as far as putting the three background layers on the card and the yellow ribbon but couldn't decide what else to put on it. I came back to it last week and thought that I had to do something with it as it was quite pretty but obviously missing something- even more colour!
The card started with me stamping the polka dots on to the Kraft cardstock with white versamagic ink and then I added the ribbon and the green and brown layers. The butterflies are from a 1" punch and the flower is made from 2" scallop circle punch with a brad from American Crafts. The sentiment is on a 1 1/2" circle which I cut on half.
The patterned paper for the green layer and the flower is from Making Memories Just Chillin Girl and the butterflies paper is from K and Co Amy Butler Belle paper. The sentiment Stamp is from Hero Arts Sentiments. Thanks for looking.
Celebrate and thinking of you cards.
Tuesday, September 07, 2010
The first card says thinking of you. I used a pre-made card which already had the pattern on it and added three 2" scallop circles with 3 1" butterflies on them and underneath the ribbon, I used the threading water punch. I also inked the edge of the butterflies and the card itself in brown ink. There is probably too many butterflies but never mind.
The second card just says celebrate, so it could be used for a number of different events. I used a 2" scallop circle punch and then a 1 1/2" circle punch and just stamped celebrate on top. Added two flowers with brads, some ribbon and inked the edges of the card, the flowers and the scallop circle with a purple ink and the circle with a brown ink. You can't really see the ink on the flowers in the photo but it's better in real life.
Thanks for looking.
Organiser - type 2.
Thursday, September 02, 2010
I wanted to show you the organisers I made for my sister and my mum.
The first one is my mums and the second is my sisters.
It all started because my sister wanted a diary and I just went a bit mad with it and made an organiser instead. When I started to think about, I decided to make one for my mum as well.
So here's whats inside them:
At the front is a 12 month calendar, 1 month on a page. I created and printed off my computer and added a tab to every month which I just inked the edges.
I then added an envelope to store receipts.
Then I made 6 pocket pages out of card and folded it to create a pocket on either side so it can be used to store wage slips etc and can be used as 1 pocket for every month of the year.
I added a tab and wrote the date on either side on each page and again inked the edges.
At the back I added another envelope for receipts and added some paper which I stamped with the word notes.
On the outside I added a bow to each of the 3 book rings to make it pretty and just added some pva glue so they didn't come apart.
On the front and back cover, I laminated a piece of patterned paper, which makes it a good sturdy cover and rounded the corners.
My sister and my mum really liked their organisers and I really enjoyed making them, it was good fun.
The only thing I should have added, and might still do, was a piece of elastic to make a loop and thread it through a hole at the back and used a brad on the front to make a fastening to keep the organiser together.
'till the next time.
