Mojo Monday Sketch 250 - Big Birthday Wishes
Saturday, July 21, 2012
So the kids have finished school for the summer and the weather is supposed to be getting better too, let's hope it stays nice for a lot of the next 6 weeks so we can enjoy it.
Hollie is definitely a child that loves to be outside and would spend all the time she could outside at nursery. When she goes into reception in September, she obviously won't be able to spend as much time outside, so she needs to make the most of it. She also likes helping me with the gardening so I'm sure we will be able to do some of that too.
For the card today, I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 250. I broke out the lovely bright Echo Park Summer Days papers and the great Amy R stamps. I love these stamps as they have some great large sentiments.

Mojo monday sketch 249 - For you card
Sunday, July 15, 2012
There is only one week left at nursery for Hollie and then 8 weeks (in Hollies case) of driving me around the bend. Really hope we get some better weather than what we have had recently.
For this card I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 249 and I liked how it had 4 pieces to make up the background.
As there was a big space in the centre of the card for an image, I chose this image from the Forever Friends black and gold set as I don't have many image stamps and this was the right size to fit and was cute too.
I did some more hand stitching on this card and I find it quite therapeutic. I haven't managed to grasp using my sewing machine on cards as the stitching never seems right. I will have to figure it out and give it another go.
Paper - Dovecraft Tea Party | Stamps - Forever Friends Black and Gold & Amy R It's your birthday | Ribbon - Papermania | Border punch - Martha Stewart doily | Gems - Papermania | Gem heart - Mei Flower | Thread - Sew Easy.
Hope you have a nice Sunday and a good week ahead.
Retrosketches #19 - Heartfelt wishes

Today I went to Hollies Teddy bear picnic at her nursery. She chose to take her purple teddy that she got when she had to go into hospital and it has been her favourite ever since.
It was absolute chaos with so many kids and all the parents too but it was good fun and it calmed down when the kids got to eat ice cream.
The card today I made using the Retrosketch #19 sketch. I decided to go with the Basic Grey Kioshi papers as I wanted to use a green layer under the paper.
As the card wasn't too bright, I decided to use a sentiment that was more thinking of you type than just a birthday or thank you sentiment and can be put in my card stash for when I need card of this type.
This is the sketch. It was quite a simple design so I didn't want to add too much more to the card, so just added a border under the purple card and a flower embellishment.
Paper - Basic Grey Kioshi | Stamp - Hero Arts All Occasions | Twine - The Ribbon Reel | Label - Spellbinders Nestabilities Label four | Buttons - Papermania and Sew Sweet | Button Twine - The Ribbon Girl | Brad and Flower - Papermania | Border Punch - Fiskars.
Mojo Monday Sketch 248 - Three Cheers

Yesterday I mentioned that I had been looking on Pinterest for ideas too keep Hollie busy in the summer holidays, well today I turned to Ebay for A little bit of inspiration. I was looking at peg boards, like the Hama beads and dressing up things, as she likes to be a princess (who wouldn't!).
I decided to use the Echo Park Summer Days paper for this card as it is nice and cheery and it has been horribly wet here this week so needed to brighten things up. Also I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 248.
I took the colours from the ice cream papers and used them for the accents too and tried to steer clear of happy birthday sentiment as that is all I seem to use. Love the colours of the ice creams!
Paper - Echo Park Summer Days | Stamp - Forever Friends Black and Gold | Seeing Sports Embossing folder | Flower punch - EK Success | Button - Sew Sweet | Border punch - Martha Stewart | Flower and brad - Papermania | Ribbon - Hobbycraft | Diamanté pin - Ebay.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Retro Sketches #18 - Enjoy your special day
Thursday, July 05, 2012
With 2 weeks left at school before the summer holidays I have really been turning to Pinterest to find inspiration to keep Hollie entertained for the 6 weeks, well it will be longer as she doesn't start school all day until october. I think it is going to be a long time. I'm sure I will show some of things Hollie has created here on the blog.
In the meantime, I decided to make this card using the Retro Sketches #18 sketch.
I like using the sketches that don't have too many elements as they help you start the card off and then you can go with your imagination.
For the flower punches, I used the EK Success flower punch for the kraft shape and then cut out smaller ones for the patterned paper on top, so that it created a bit of colour for the patterned paper.
For the ribbon I decided to use two ribbons and got the idea of stitching on the actual ribbon and so gave it a go. It did kind of work but the ribbons kept slipping so the stitching wasn't straight and didn't want to add too much adhesive as the needle wouldn't have gone through the paper and ribbon very well.
Paper - Papermania Summer Bloom | Stamp - Forever Friends Black and Gold | Ribbon - Hobbbycraft | Flower - The Ribbon Girl | Diamanté pin - Ebay | Doily - Joanna Sheen | Flower punch - EK Success | Gems - Dovecraft.
Have a lovely day.
