woyww 234 - what's on my desk
Wednesday, November 27, 2013
On my desk this week are a few projects that I have been working on for Christmas.
On the left is a Merry Christmas banner that I bought which was a cheap banner from Asda and decided to add some snowflakes and green stickles glitter to, to add more dimension. It is going to go under my mantel.
Also there are some wooden hearts that I am going to paint red but not entirely sure what I am going to do with them yet.
On the right are some pieces I have die cut to make some gift tags. I have used a couple of Clearly Besotted stamps to make the tags. I like to cut out all the pieces first and then put them all together.
Lastly are some battery operated lights to put in some Christmas jars and decorations and for another project that I will be doing soon and will hopefully will show on the blog.
So I have a few things to keep me busy today. Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy looking at the other desks.

Treat yourself birthday card

Over the weekend we have been busy putting the Christmas tree up. I have a red, lime green and cappuccino colour theme. I have had this theme for a good few years so this year I really didn't need to buy anything for the tree as we have plenty of decorations already. So that was great.
Today's card is a simple card that I made a few weeks ago. I wanted to use the wooden flowers from Kars that I have in my stash. I just used a brad to secure them onto the card. The paper is a lovely salmon peach colour which the brads match. I used a piece of kraft card, some brown ribbon and added the sentiment onto a die cut circle. Lastly I just inked the edges with Versamagic brown ink. Really simple.
Paper - Crate Paper Story Teller | Stamps - Forever Friends Black and Gold | Ribbon - Hobbycraft | Brads - Making Memories | Circle - Spellbinders Nestabilities circles large| Wooden flowers - Kars | Ink - Versamagic jumbo java.
This is a little pic of the Christmas tree.
Hope you are having a good week. See you soon.
Mojo Monday Sketch 319
Saturday, November 16, 2013
Yesterday I mentioned that I had bought a Christmas patterned paper pad that was a lot more subdued than I had expected. Today I have a card that I made using these papers.
It has nice patterns just not as bright as it was on the front cover.
For this card I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 319. and the Dovecraft traditional Christmas paper pad and the Clearly Besotted Signature Christmas stamps.
On the wreath I used some pearls and added some glossy accents to the ribbon to make it shiny. For the stars, I used a cream coloured pastel pencil to add some colour to the white stars and then added some wink of stella glitter pen on top to make them sparkle. I also added some to the holly leaves on the green paper but you can't really see it in the photo.

I really wanted to make some bright and fun Christmas cards this year as the past few years I have bought paper pads that were a lot more subdued.
Even again this year, the first paper pad I bought wasn't as bright as I had hoped it was going to be, as the front cover of the paper pad was very bright but the paper wasn't, very disappointing.
So I decided to purchase the Doodlebug Home for the Holidays paper pad as I had seen it in a haul that Michelle from The Card Grotto did and it was just what I was looking for.
I am a big fan of the colour red so really wanted to pick out the red of the paper and use it for the scallop circle and the flowers.
The flowers are made with 2 punch shapes to make the flowers look fuller and then added a gem to the middle to add some bling. Love them.
To add some more sparkle, I added some red stickles to the tree to continue the red theme.
It is definitely the brightest card I have made recently!

I decided to use the sketch #89 from Retrosketches for this card.
Also as the Clearly Besotted challenge was Christmas, I thought I would enter it there too!
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

woyww 232 - what's on my desk

Yesterday I was told that it is 6 weeks to Christmas, So I thought I had better get my act into gear with making Christmas cards and presents.
On my desk are a couple of Christmas paper pads and stamps which I have been using for inspiration to make some cards. I love all the bright reds and greens in the paper pads, really happy colours. Also I have been using my Clearly Besotted stamps and the stamps and dies from Sizzix that I won recently.
I have really got to get prepared for Christmas as I have roughly 9 weeks left in my pregnancy and have no idea how long I will be able to create before the baby arrives as I am getting really uncomfortable already.
So I had better get off and make some more cards.
Enjoy having a look at the other desks.

Cute elephants frame
Tuesday, November 05, 2013
A couple of months ago we had a new baby boy in the family, technically to me and my husband he is a great nephew but I think we will leave it at nephew!
For a present I decided to make something rather than buying clothes etc. I chose to make a picture and went with these little punched elephants in a frame.
I really wanted to use these little elephants but I don't have the Martha Stewart punch to create them, so I decided to purchase them from Ebay.
I went for the colours blues and greys and I think it looks really colourful. As the elephants were on foam adhesive and were sticking out of the frame, I took the glass out and also it makes it safer in a child's room.
It was really simple to make and isn't too fussy either.
If you are off to see some fireworks tonight, I hope you enjoy them.
See you soon.
Mojo monday 317
Sunday, November 03, 2013
For today's card I used the current sketch from Mojo Monday 317. I didn't think I would have time to make a card with this sketch but I needed a card for a 50th birthday party last night and so quickly made one yesterday afternoon.
I was going to use some patterned paper on the background but decided to emboss some white card as there would be enough in the circles.
As the card was for a man, I decided to just keep the embellishment to the buttons and added a tag with 50th on it.
I don't think it turned out too bad for a card that was last minute and took me about an hour!
Stamps - Clearly Besotted A little sentimental and Amy R It's your birthday | Paper - My Mind's Eye Lime Twist fly a kite and out of the blue | Embossing folders - Cuttlebug stars and Triboss chequered | Circles - Die-namics circles stax 1 |Tag - Clearly Besotted tag along die collection | Brad - Papermania | Buttons - Hobbycraft and Sew Sweet | Sekura white gelly roll pen.
Hope you are having a good weekend.
