Happiest birthday card
Wednesday, January 15, 2014
The card today is the last of the four cards that I made to put into the card gift box.
It started with the pink patterned paper label and went with the pierced circle on top. I wanted to add some patterned paper behind the label but also wanted to emboss the background, so used a strip of paper and cut out a fish tail and then you could still see the background.
I added 3 small strips of paper, which I cut these into a fishtail as well, under the label to add a little more colour and chose some blue patterned paper for the flowers and butterflies.
I kept the embellishments simple and just added some gems to the flowers and butterflies to make them sparkle.
Paper - American Crafts My Girl | Stamps - My Pink Stamper Fabulous Phrases | Butterflies - Martha Stewart 3 in 1 monarch butterfly punch | Flowers - Martha Stewart 3 in 1 hydrangea punch | Circle - Die-namics pierced circles | Label - Spellbinders Nestabilities label one | Embossing folder - Cart-us Trendy circles | Gems - Hobbycraft.
Hope you are having a great week.
Orange butterfly and flowers card
Monday, January 13, 2014
This card is not as bright and summery as the first two but more autumnal and I am a big fan of the colour teal and so really wanted to use the teal spotty paper on the circle. The background paper is very full of different colours and pulled the orange colour from the paper and used it on the butterfly and flowers.
As the papers are quite busy, I just added some glitter to the butterfly and some gems to the flowers and kept the sentiment simple and stamped the sentiment on to a Clearly Besotted Tag Along banner and added some more gems.
Today I'm 40 weeks pregnant and so may well go into labour at any time so if you don't hear from me soon, you know why!
Hope you have a good week.
Paper- Crate paper Farmhouse | Stamp - Clearly Besotted A Litlle Sentimental | Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey circles | Butterfly - Martha Stewart Monarch butterfly punch | Flowers - Martha Stewart 3 in 1 hydrangea | Label - Clearly Besotted Tag Along | Gems - Hobbycraft | Glitter- Stickles crystal.
Hope you have a good week.
Pink stripe star card
Friday, January 10, 2014
Today's card is the second of the four cards that I made for the card gift boxes I posted here.
For this card, I wanted to use a doily as part of the main focal point and decided to use a Die-namics pierced circle in front of it.
I just used a small strip of patterned paper on the background, as the doily takes up a lot of the card and added two stars to balance out the card.
For the sentiment, I used the Clearly Besotted Tag Along stamp set on a tag from the coordinating Tag Along die set. I added a little heart under the sentiment and made it shiny with some Glossy accents.
I decided to add some little stars to break up the circle a bit and added some stickles glitter to make them sparkle.
Paper - American Crafts May Berry | Stamp - Clearly Besotted Tag Along | Circle - Die-namics pierced circle | Star - Sizzix framelits stars | Tag - Clearly Besotted Tag Along | Doily - Wilton | Glitter - Stickles crystal | Glossy Accents.
Love the colours on this card as I think they make it nice and summery.
Hope you are having a great week. See you soon.
Green owl card
Wednesday, January 08, 2014
Today I have the first of four cards that I have made for the card boxes that I showed in this post last week.
For the card, I decided to use the Clearly Besotted you're a hoot owl for the main image. Before choosing the ink colour, I chose the patterned paper from the American Crafts Soho Garden paper pad. I went with Memento cottage ivy, it is slightly darker than the papers but worked fine.
I didn't add to much patterned paper but enough to add plenty of colour. I decided to emboss the background as it was too plain without and used the die-namics pierced circle to add the faux stitching to the circle.
On the owl, I added a little heart to the centre which I added some stickles glitter to add some sparkle and also added some glossy accents to the eyes to bring them out.
For the sentiment, I used the Clearly Besotted tag it stamp set and then stamped it on one of the tags from the tag it die set.
Paper - American Crafts Soho Garden | Stamps - Clearly Besotted You're a hoot and tag along | Circles - Spellbinders Nestabilities large circles and Die-namics Pierced circles | Label - Clearly Besotted tag along | Embossing folder - Cuttlebug swiss dots | Ink - Versafine onyx black and memento cottage ivy | Glitter - Stickles crystal | Glossy accents.
My aim was to make some cards that weren't too embellished but not too plain either and think this one turned out well.
Hope you are having a great week. See you soon for the second of the four cards.
Cute Little Candle Cake
Monday, January 06, 2014
I had seen a picture of this little cake made out of paper and a battery operated candle on Pinterest and was really intrigued by it and wanted to give it at making one for my mums birthday, which was at the end of December.
I started by cutting out a large scallop circle for the bottom of the candle and cut out a hole for the switch. To secure the scallop circle to the candle I used some foam squares, one on top of another as the candle had tiny feet so needed double height to make it level.
I then cut out a smaller scallop circle for the top of the candle which I then created a hole for the light and folded down the sides of the scallop circle.
Then I cut out a piece to put around the sides and added some ricrac ribbon to make it more decorative.
To decorate the top of the cake, I punched out some little flowers from the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 hydrangea punch and used the smaller flowers and added some stickles to make them sparkle.
My Mum really liked the little candle cake and I am really pleased with how it turned out.
These little candle cakes are great little gifts and it wasn't too difficult to make either.
Card gift boxes
Saturday, January 04, 2014
For a few Christmas presents, I decided to make some handmade cards and wanted to make some boxes to store them in.
I decided to make them with the envelope punch board. I found a tutorial on YouTube by Lizy Bartaby where she makes a card box that was big enough for UK c6 size envelopes, as most tutorials on YouTube are for US size 51/2 x 41/4 cards.
The box fitted 4-5 cards and envelopes depending on how much embellishments the cards have on them.
I also used the envelope punch board to make some bows like I have made for these boxes in my last post.
The front was still quite bare, so I added a label die cut from Spellbinders Nestabilities label one and then added a heart from the Clearly Besotted Love Hearts stamps and then some little punched hearts.
To secure the flap at the back, I used a small piece of Velcro and it worked very well.
I made three different coloured boxes but kept the bows the same colour.
I really love these boxes. They make great little gifts and are great packaging to store cards and are nice and sturdy.
Hope you have had a great week and have a nice weekend.
See you soon.
